It's a challenge for Australia to break new ground.

The highest peaks have already been conquered.

This is the unit that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, plus six more T20 titles, and earlier maintained nearly four years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, those for the peak baggers, are the only things left for a team that has won it all.

The fact it required up to Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase above 300, taking back their record for the highest in the women's 50-over format, is, frankly, a compliment to the bowling attack that have represented Australia over the last half-century.

It is hard for their hitters to hold a record if never given the possibility.

Ultimately, the outcome of Australia giving up 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy getting a chance to produce her latest masterpiece.

Originally famous as the teenage relative of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her nation didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups from the prior year and has seen it all through 15 successful years since.

A T20 championship victory happened three months after her debut and seven global championships have come from 10 attempts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India momentarily interrupted the run of success.

That loss "motivated us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy commented earlier.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the final and was awarded tournament MVP. She ensured her country would not come up short.

Whether this newest brilliant performance exceeded that prior achievement is debatable.

Some will argue the reasoning behind final game tension. Others can counter with the test that comes when confronting a historic chase and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was much more difficult to see coming.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 occurred when she topped the run-scoring charts, but this performance was preceded by six games in India over the past few weeks in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've observed me in training, it's been a disappointing period because it seemed my form was missing at all," commented Healy.

"Yet the moment you enter the playing area, your competitive instincts activate and you simply focus on the match."

Healy's competitive nature has continuously been her great strength - and a priceless quality in replacing iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, fallen to the 22-year-old seamer in every game, but this time it merely gave Healy's spark.

A single came off the opening delivery and from that point the batsman was on her way.

"A chance to play and face the challenge with her and just have a bit of fun that way, sort of got me going," commented Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 deliveries - her quickest at the World Cup - and her ton in 84 balls as she punished short deliveries, striking 21 boundaries and three sixes.

By the time she was removed Australia needed 66 additional runs at one run per ball - a manageable total now needing a comfortable finish.

"Pursuing 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm happy we have the belief to achieve that now," added Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to repeat it but, if necessary, we believe we can do it."

These statements will be the last competing nations at this World Cup should hear.

During the last week a sense they will triumph from any situation has become more firm - this success following win against Pakistan by 107-run victory despite sitting at 76-7 at one stage.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before an encounter with longtime competitors England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final berth may probably be guaranteed.

It was at that stage they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a match Healy was absent due to damaged tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the inaugural occasion at a significant event.

Such is her determination, she subsequently stated she regretted not playing with the discomfort.

But while she subsequently acknowledged those injuries have delayed consideration of ending her career, this tournament is anticipated as her final tournament as skipper in ODI cricket and she is still to achieve a world championship as leader.

Success in India would take her to the summit of her final mountain.
